On November 7, the Department of Electronic Commerce and Informatization of Ministry of Commerce held a press conference on the theme “E-Commerce promotes consumption upgrade” at the first China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as CIIE).

 

At the conference, Ms.Qian Fangli, director of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Informatization of Ministry of Commerce, revealed that Ministry of Commerce is currently working with relevant departments to study and improve the post-transition period supervision plan for cross-border e-commerce retail import related policies, which will be based on the general idea of overall supervision on personal items to optimize and improve regulatory measures while ensuring overall stability of regulatory arrangements.

 

From January to August this year, custom inspected and released imported goods of cross-border e-commerce totaled 48.97 billion Yuan. By June 2018, the number of internet users inChinahad reached 802 million, and the number of online shopping users had reached 569 million.China's e-commerce services are leading the world - mobile payment is changing consumer spending habits, and non-cash shopping has become the main stream. In 2017, the amount of online payment by non-bank payment institutions was 143.26 trillion Yuan. In addition, the volume ofChina's express delivery business reached 40.06 billion in 2017, contributing 50% to the growth of global express delivery business.

 

From the first group of Internet pioneers learning the international e-commerce model to the current status that business model innovation gradually leads, China's e-commerce has entered a mature period of improving quality and efficiency. New commercial forms and new models are constantly emerging. Sharing economy is widely applied in many areas such as transportation and daily life services. Social e-commerce reduces the drainage cost, and quality e-commerce strengthens supply and demand matching. Chinese consumers' online consumption presents a new trend of personalization, experience, diversification, quality, health and intelligence.
