Piperine is primarily derived from black pepper, which grows in Yunan and Hainan province and Guangxi Zhuang Automous Region of China. The price of black pepper rose 30 percent in H2 2013, which forced many piperine manufacturers to stop production. The price dropped by March 2013, but it is possible to rise again.
The pepper price always fluctuates in recent years. The piperine price had remained stable since Janurary, and rose along with higher pepper price in October 2013. The price for 95% piperine increased 18 percent in December from October. It doesn't affect the demand from terminal market, especially domestic market. Owing to the high price of black pepper, the piperine price is hard to turn stable in a short time.
