Common Cnidium wildly grows in Shandong, Anhui, Hebei and Henan provinces of China. Owing to low prices, farmers are reluctant to pick the fruit in the past harvest season, resulting in a decrease of production. Moreover, the drought in June to July made the production decline year on year. The price now rose to 25 yuan per kilogram from 15 yuan of summer.
Thanks to improved living standards and more health conscious consumers, the annual consumption of Common cnidium fruit is increasing, which reach more than 1500 tons in China mainland.
Osthole, efficient ingredient in common cnidium fruit extract, is widely applied in pharmaceuticals and home care chemicals abroad.
