According to herbridge.com,silymarin price rose as soon as the raw material came into the harvest season.Silymarin,as a usual product exported,is capturing more and more attention of manufacturers and purchasers.At present,due to shortage of raw materials,major manufacturers in Panjin,Liaoning province claim that quoted price is avaliable only in two weeks.

   Libao,production manager of Panjin Tianyuan Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.,had strong feelings of shortage of raw materials this year.He explained that the poor weather resulted in severe failures of raw materials.He estimated the overall yield was about 5000-6000 ton this year,which was more than 1000 ton in former years. Panjin Tianyuan Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. is the largest silymarin supplier in China,whose export level accounts for 40 percent to 50 percent of total exports every year.However,up to now they only purchased more than 2000 ton of raw materials.

   Libao said the price of raw materials was more than 14RMB/kg.The price was 13RMB/kg last week and 7-8 RMB/kg in the past years.The increasing degree of silymarin price is less than that of raw materials.At present,silymarin(DAB) price is around 350 RMB/kg in Northeast China.

   On the whole,the weather is extraordinary in Northeast throughout the year.It experienced drought in the rapid growth period and encounted raining all day in pollination period and then was subjected to heavy rain in the harvest time.Consequently, the quality and the quantity of sillibin this year are both not as good as that in previous years.Libao said manufacturers must try their best to purchase raw materials if they receive a large order.
