Recently, a key technology that extracted functional alginate from seaweed overcame by the experts from Wuhan Textile University This technology broke the monopoly in Britain and the United States ,It also got eight national invention patents.
Since 2004, the university research group have begun to select a large number of seaweed acid raw materials applies to spinning , developped good functional alginate fiber, and independently designed and manufactured the first production of the wet line,which suited for large-scale production of seaweed fiber.
The technology used seaweed that was from marine natural materials, using water as a solvent, will not cause environmental pollution both in the production process and application. Compared with the ordinary fibrous material,it has the obvious advantages of hygroscopicity, flame retardant and antibacterial properties.
Alginate fibers can be used for medical dressings, the mask substrate and breast disease, In addition to, the experts also find that alginate fiber has metal ion adsorption, dyeability characteristics, which make it possible to develop more new products.
