Herbridge, 9 Oct. 2012_The ornamental benefit of Aesculus has been accepted by more people in the past two years, which affected horse chestnut’s supply. The price of horse chestnut rises to 70 yuan per kilogram, 10 yuan up from July.

The tree widely grows in India and German, so the two countries become main suppliers of horse chestnut extracts. But in China, the content of aescin B in seeds is higher, which is an advantage to China.

“Horse chestnut’s price is rising, and the competition from overseas players is heating up. Although the extract’s market sees no change, the profit space narrows in China. Almost no buyers inquired 20% aescin, while a few traders purchased 98% aescin last two months. The seeds’ price is likely to rise in China, but the price may remain stable in overseas market. Therefore, the extracts’ price will continue to fluctuate from 240 yuan to 280 yuan per kilogram in China.” said a manager from Baoji Runyu Bio-technology Co., Ltd.
