Herbridge, 13 August_The first marigolds have been being harvested in North China.
"With planting area rising sharply this year, marigold price is significantly lower than previous years. The harvest is at early stage and the following activity might be affected by the climates." said Manager Lin from Xi'an HuaRui Bio-Engineering Co., Ltd.
Owing to early good harvest, lutein price began to drop. But the market is still unclear for uncertain climates. The prices are of great difference on the market. Lin said, "Lutein is mostly for foreign market. Feed grade lutein, especially 2 to 5 percent, is mainly exported to Southeast Asia. Food grade lutein is represented by 20 to 80 percent."
"Several countries such as India and Peru began to plant marigold this year, which will give a blow to domestic lutein market," said an director from Hebei Dongzhixing Biotech Co., Ltd, "In the past, foreign buyers imported crude lutein and then refined for use. Now they directly purchase refined products in China."
