There used to be a time in 2011 when the price of curcumin was high. With its price climbing higher and higher, curcumin attracted the attention of many suppliers. Some domestic suppliers of curcumin expanded their capacity; however, with the price of curcumin declining in 2012, the curcumin market gradually went into a state of oversupply.
Into 2012, the international market saw a good harvest of turmeric resources, and there were some consequent fluctuations in the curcumin market. Since this March, the market price of curcumin in China has been declining. The decrease has exceeded 30% over the same period last year. And the profit margins of the producers and suppliers of curcumin are much smaller than before. At present, the curcumin market is still in a volatile period.
