Totally, there are a small number of lycopene producers in China, who produce extracted and fermented lycopenes. Producers of extracted lycopene include Xinjiang TomatoRed Biotech and COFCO Tunhe. Producers of fermented lycopene include North China Pharmaceutical Group Corp. (NCPC) and some other small plant extract enterprises.
This month, China’s lycopene market performed steadily. Producers supply powder or ointment lycopene 1%-2%. A larger proportion of natural lycopenes are traded in the market thanks to their higher cost and price than fermented ones.
China faces certain challenge in terms of downstream extension of lycopene. As for China’s market alone, healthcare products with lycopene as ingredient are developed hotly. After the entry of LycoRed, the largest lycopene supplier from Israel into China, Chinese suppliers will confront a stronger rival. In international market, China’s lycopene suppliers have no free brands, always with a small quantity of exports.
