In international market, resveratrol consumption has been cooling down obviously. The number and frequency of new lines coming on market have reduced year by year.
In Chinese market, resveratrol is supplied from different sources, either extracted from Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Huzhang) or grapes. Resveratrol from these two sources is primarily used to meet market demands for dietary supplements. Synthetic resveratrol, mainly used in formula of cosmetics, also enjoys relatively mature technology, with purity and content both exceeding 99% generally.
However, Chinese suppliers have developed fewer products that can be used directly in formula of cosmetics. Still, they mostly supply crude powder. So they fail to make a profit on the value added by more professional technology to their products. Fewer developers conduct further synthesis of acetyl resveratrol and pterostilbene by using resveratrol.
Now acetyl resveratrol and pterostilbene suppliers are rarely found in China. The price of acetyl resveratrol has dropped to RMB 3000. Synthetic resveratrol is priced at RMB 1600-1700/kg. And the price of extracted resveratrol goes around RMB 2000. The overall market remains stable.
