No matter how the international market responds to the price of resveratrol now, resources of resveratrol appear hard to get in China due to climate reasons and the upcoming spring planting season.

Relevant responsible person of Chengdu Weihui told Herbridge Media that, it was still snowing in Enshi/Lichuan/Yichang and other places in Hubei, which are main producing areas of crude Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati. Only a small number of dry goods were available. No fresh goods appeared in the market; bad weather in Hubei-near part of Chongqing was not good for picking and harvesting Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati. Rising price of Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati has posed heavy pressure on botanical extract producers. And the market price of resveratrol has risen to some extent accordingly.

As the year 2011 saw desirable market of resveratrol, domestic resveratrol producers are wait-and-see in the current market situation. In 2012, some resveratrol suppliers entered the market of resveratrol. Some withdrew. They made different changes to the price of resveratrol, because on one hand, some producers maintained a minimum price as they had stocks on hand; on the other hand, producers with small stocks on hand suffered higher cost of resveratrol as a result of higher purchase price of Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati, naturally they quoted higher price.
