Herbridge, 21 Dec. 2011_John's wort was harvested in June in China. After the harvest, its prices continued to rise and so did its extracts.
Most John's wort is wild plant in China. As traditional products, John's wort extracts had been in stable supply for over ten years in China. John's wort extracts experienced steady rise through 2011, which is attributed to larger international demand and less available John's wort this year. Farmers are reluctant to pick this plant and thus make it very hard to buy raw materials. In addition, there was almost no John's wort extracts in inventory before the new harvest. According to herbridge.com, the extracts' prices are still fluctuating in China.
John's wort extracts are primarily for international demand. Domestic manufacturers should make efforts to compete with foreign rivals.
