Herbridge, 21 Dec. 2011_The prices for Epimedium extracts tend to stable in Dec, following a consistent increase since this year's harvest.
Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces produce most of Epimedium extracts in China. These extracts are offered at very diverse prices, which is attributed to process difference and varied raw materals' cost. According to herbridge.com, the price discrepancy is up to 100 yuan for 10 percent icariin and up to 200 yuan for 20 percent icariin per kilogram. The extracts' prices are expected to return stable this month and keep this situation in the near future.
Considering last year's short supply for milk thistle seeds, farmers expanded planting area and gained substantial goods this year. As the supply exceeds the demand, milk thistle extracts' prices gradually drop in accordance with the seeds' prices. Silymarin standarded as UV80 with 30% silybin & isosilybin is presently offered around 260RMB/kg in China. The extracts' prices are expected to keep downward tendency in the near future.
