Silymarin Prices Decrease on Good Harvest

Herbridge, 14 Sept. 2011_It is a good harvest for milk thistle in China this year. The shortage for the seeds last year encouraged farmers to largely expand plantation, leading into today's situation that the supply exceeds the demand.
Manufacturers began to significantly decrease the prices for milk thistle extracts in Sept. when the harvest was over in China. For example, the prices for 80% silymarin with 30% silybins & isosilybins are around 350RMB/kg, about RMB 100 lower than that in August. It is the lowest price in recent two years.
The silymarin market is expected to return to be stable because of the fact that the supply surpasses the demand for milk thistle seeds.
