Herbridge, 18 Aug. 2011_Mature a product as it is, baicalin also sees higher prices.
With wild scutellaria in short, the plant is also cultivated in Shandong, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia of China. Most manufacturers buy cultivated scutellaria from farmers for the extracts' production. The inflation resulted in slightly higher prices last year. However, the short supply of scutellaria cause the baicalin market to fluctuate sharply this year in China. Most manufacturers primarily offer common baicalin for old customers. Considering the stable demand, manufacturers don't expand production capacity. Some manufacturers have no baicalin in stock, but they won't carry out production until late 2011when the new crop arrives in China.
According to herbridge.com, baicalin prices still have upward tendency. But it needs time for customers to accept higher prices, which in turn inhibit prices' increase. While the prices for 90% baicalin at injection level are around 350RMB/kg now, the prices for 85% baicalin at oral level are around 280RMB/kg in China.
