Herbridge, 12 Aug. 2011_As wild valerian root is in increasingly short supply, its cultivation began in China. Valerian grows well only at 800-1200 meters above sea level, so Guizhou province becomes the major growing area in China. Currently, valerian root is offered at 30-40RMB/kg in China.
There are less and less manufacturers to produce valerian root extracts in China. In addition to very small demand, the government imposed restrictions on the extracts' production which caused serious environmental pollution. Valerian root extracts available are primarily the inventories, including ratio products and standardized extracts. Owing to low valeric acid level in cultivated crops, it is hard to offer high-purity valerian root extracts in China.
Presently, 0.3% valeric acid version is offered at about 180RMB/kg and 10:1 version at about 90RMB/kg in China. According to herbridge.com, the market will run steadily in the future.
