Herbridge, 8 Aug. 2011_Like previous years, manufacturers began to adjust silymarin's prices two months before the harvest in China. On the one hand, purchasers are waiting for the new crops which will arrive in late August. On the other hand, suppliers try to attract more buyers through prices reduction.
According to herbridge.com, the overall prices for silymarin lines were reduced in the last three months in China. Take for example the common silymarin (UV80, 30% silybin&isosilybin). The average prices were 510RMB/kg in May, 480RMB/kg in June and 460RMB/kg in July. It is preliminary understood that the production is larger this year than that in 2010. Silymarin manufacturers are not anxious to go to milk thistle-growing provinces for the seeds purchase now. We will continue to share late updates after the harvest.
