Herbridge, 6 July 2011_The great demand in 2009 encouraged many manufacturers to involve in salicin production without full consideration in China. However, the significantly decreased demand in 2010 leaded into large amounts of salicin available in the market. Salicin prices began to decline in early 2011, but the prices for white whillow bark have been maintained at 1.2-1.3 RMB/kg since 2010 when the prices rose from 0.9 RMB/kg of 2009, according to herbridge.com.
There are 15%, 25% and 50% salicin in concentration available in the market. The prices for 25% salicin were around 110RMB/kg in early 2011 compared to 120RMB/kg in H2 2010. The prices' reduction is primarily attributed to vicious competition associated with excess supply and low demand in China. The salicin market is expected to keep comparatively stable in the future in China.
