Herbridge,30 Dec.2010_Guilin Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd received the closing letter from WHO that its Artesunate for injection plant was consisted with WHO-GMP requirements in November this year.WHO added Artesun in its list of PQ medicines on its website.
Guilin Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd is the first company to produce intravenous artesunate in WHO-PQ certificated facility, filling a gap in the world.Before that,WHO recommended to use artesunate for injection worldwide,but all the countries in Africa haven't incorporated intravenous artesunate in national medication plan since there was no production facility meeting international GMP standards before.Therefore,both the goverment and medical insurance system are not likely to purchase artesunate for injection now.
