Chamomile Extract Prices May rise

Herbridge,28 Dec.2010_As an exotic plant,chamomilla primarily grows in Yili,Xinjiang province in China where it is almost chamaemelum nobile.Owing to unfavourable climates,the output of chamomilla flowers decreased this year.The combination of decreased chamomilla flowers production on account of unfavourable climates this year and high picking cost prompted farmers to give up picking flowers and produce oil with chamomilla.

The quantity and quality of chamomilla flowers significantly decline compared to previous years.The prices rise up to 120RMB/kg which was less than 60RMB/kg last year.Chamomilla flowers are picked in mid-July.Yili district produced around 3 tons of chamomilla flowers this year.The demand exceeds the supply.By now,there is almost no stocks in the market.

According to herbridge.com,there is very small demand for chamomile extract in the fields of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.So there are only a few suppliers in China.The total production is no more than 30 tons every year.Some manufacturers have the right to export chamomile extract,including Skyherb Technologies Co.,ltd,Changsha KANG Pharmaceutical Group Co.,Ltd,Gentcare Natural Ingredients Inc.The former two primarily supply standardized chamomile extract,while the later only supply chamomile ratio extract.

The prices for 1.2%,90% and 98% chamomile extracts are 300RMB/kg,2500RMB/kg and 3000RMB/kg,respectively.There are more manufacturers to supply chamomile ratio extracts,especially 10:1 and 20:1 with respective prices of 100-300RMB/kg and 150-500RMB/kg.With high prices for chamomilla flowers and increased labor cost,chamomile extract prices are likely to rise in the future,but may not increase significantly.
