Herbridge,16 Dec.2010_The output of marigold decreased by at least 30 percents,leading into the serious shortage for lutein in China.Most manufacturers have no ability to supply new customers.Lutein prices are rising now.
According to herbridge.com,there is very little communication between lutein manufacturers and farmers cultivating marigold,resulting in the unbalance between the demand and the supply.Lutein manufacturers primarily purchase extractum to produce lutein.Most lutein manufacturers are not ready for the surge of marigold and extractum market in China.
The large lutein manufacturers are said to stock only 100 tons of extractum,decreasing by over 50 percents compared with previous years.
The prices for lutein increase again in December.The price for 20% lutein(HPLC) reaches up to 700RMB/kg which was 620RMB/kg in November.The price for 70% lutein(HPLC) rises to 2450RMB/kg now from 2300RMB/kg of November.
