The main factor for the high price is the supply for raw materials.Manufacturers purchased epimedium at a high price.It is hard for them to sell epimedium extract at a low price.10% icariin price always fluctuates around 700RMB/kg this year.Half a month ago,the price for 10% icariin decreased to 700RMB/kg from the highest price of 800RMB/kg.And now, the price rises to 720RMB/kg again.20% icariin price decrease to 1300-1500RMB/kg from the highest price of 1600RMB/kg.
It is hard to say when the price will return to prvious levels.In order to avoid risks,manufacturers only supply low-content epimedium extract in China,especially 10% and 20% icariin.
