Herbridge,25 Nov.2010_Coleus forskohlii primarily grows in the northeast of Yunnan province in China, particularly common on the montains at 2300 metres above sea level. As an endangered plant in China,China can not supply a lot of coleus forskohlii extracts.
Compared to China,India has large advantages in terms of raw materials and production cost.On account of increased exports, cultivation of Coleus is expanding in India. But the productivity of coleus has been hampered by its susceptibility to nematode, root rot and wilt disease.
There are no more than three manufacturers to supply coleus extracts in China. They supply ratio extracts or standard coleus extracts.Owing to high prices and poor quality for raw materials, some manufacturers give up producing this product.
The prices for coleus extracts began to surge in April.Compared to April, the prices for 10% coleus extract increase by 50 percent to over 3000RMB/kg.
