Herbridge,5 Nov.2010_The harvest season for Huzhang will have to wait,Huzhang is still in short supply. However, the declined international demand and fierce competiton drive the prices to decline slightly. Many manufacturers have to withdraw from the resveratrol sector, while some companies are expanding their current facilities.
With the development of clinical researches and finished products related to resveratrol worldwide, there is demand for resveratrol in international market. However, competition between suppliers is very fierce.According to herbridge.com,the market demand for 98% resveratrol is relative stable, compared to increased demand for 50% resveratrol.
Currently, resveratrol prices vary slightly but stable at different districts in China.98% resveratrol price is 2050-2250RMB/kg in Sichuan province,2100-2300RMB/kg in Shaanxi province,2300-2500RMB/kg in Hunan province.50% resveratrol price is around 650RMB/kg.
Over exploitation resulted in tight supply for Huzhang in recent two years. The Huzhang market has maintained upward tendency for a long time. The price for Huzhang was 3-4RMB/kg last year, compared with the lowest price of 1.5RMB/kg two years ago.The price has increased to 5RMB/kg this year in Chongqing.
The increased production cost associated with fierce competition is a slap shot to manufacturers' already declining profit margin.Herbridge.com predicted that resveratrol prices may rise in next months.
