China Sees Small Demand for Beetroot Red

Beetroot Red are water-soluble natural pigments that include red-violet betacyanins and yellow betaxanthins.The stability of pigments is good at lower temperature ranges around 50℃ , so the natural pigments are primarily used in cold beverages.The applications are expanded in recent years,including jelly and canned foods.But the fact that they are very sensitive to light and heat indicates that they could not be used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The applications of beetroot red are broader in international market.The demand for the natural pigments is primarily from European,followed by USA.It is reported that around 180-200 tons of these pigments were consumed in European in 2008.Industry player said,"European manufacuters can provide enough beetroot red to meet the demand.Only a few manufacturers supply these pigments in China,and almost no enterprises export these pigments."
According to herbridge.com,the prices for beetroot red were around ￥16-18 per color value.Which is no lower than other red natural pigments.
