Rutin serial products began to see shortage of raw materials at the second half of 2009.The limited stocks almost run out during the past period.Manufacturers rest their hope on this year's harvest,only to find the harvest is poor.The industry continues to feel the impact of supply shortages,so suppliers of rutin are taking a cautious approach to new customers.Some firms said they are able to secure supplies for their old customers,but new customers enquiries are treated on a "case-by-case basis"now,even rejected directly.Some firms give much higher prices.Additionally,derivatives of rutin such as quercetin also see short supply.

Sophora flower saw poor harvest in 2008 and prices surged to 18-18.5RMB/kg at the highest.But the depression extremely decreased the demand for rutin in domestic and overseas market .Many firms had to stop supply this product.Sophora flower met good harvest in 2009 and prices fell back to 8-10RMB/kg.Meanwhile,the market showed signs of recovery with stable market prices.
According to herbridge.com,the combination of the off-year and cool temeratures brought substantially decreased output of sophora flower.Which present great challenges to manufacturers.Accordingly,rutin prices continues to rise.NF11 prices have doubled since May and are slightly lower than 300RMB/kg now.The prices were 145RMB/kg in 2008 compared with 95RMB/kg for the same period in 2009.
Currently,some firms have signed contracts delivering rutin in October.Some firms refuse to receive ton-level orders.According to herbridge.com,NF11 prices still have upward tendency.
