Herbridge,11 August 2010_It is early August when manufacturers are busy selecting and purchasing wild artemisia annua L. in Hunan and Sichuan districts.The artemisinin market was subjected to poor conditions in last two years.While the resources are some restored in this period.Most companies buying raw materials in these two districts said,"The resources are relatively abundant."
According to herbridge.com,the purchased prices varied between ¥6.5 and ¥7 a kilogram of dried leaf(the artemisinin content is 5.5‰)in Hunan province. Some enterprises in Chongqing said the quality of raw materials is poorer compared with last year.Most artemisia annua has 4‰ content of artemisinin in Chongqing.The price for 5‰ content version is around 5.5RMB/kg.Participants said,"The content of artemisinin is mainly at low level(4‰),so firms still face cost increase.Which may lead artemisinin prices to reach 3200RMB/kg,or higher."
According to herbridge.com,Hunan province may produce 1 ton dried leaf of wild artemisia annua L.,while Sichuan district may produce 2 tons of dried leaf.It is preliminary predicted to produce 3 tons of dried leaf in China.
