Herbridge,6 July 2010-Layn set up fully-automatic production line in 2009,making it possible to manufacture products in large and small quantities. The new line has the ability to process 10000-15000 tons raw materials per year. While the original production base is used to flexibily provide products with small demand.Liao Jingjun, general manager,Layn said,Layn will be specialized in five products in the coming five years, accounting for 95% of the total sale value. These include two food additive ingredients,Luo Han Guo extract and stevia.
Given the extensive planting area and plentiful product varities,China plays a key role in the stevia industry.Stevia is characterized by large demand as sweetener.Liao added,"Layn makes effort in plantation, enabling controllable agricultural management and traceable raw material. Moreover,Layn pays attention to maintain soil fertility. The company is trying to build stevia GAP standardlizational planting base as well as focus on organic farming."
Layn is also intrested in environmentally friendly, energy-saving and low-carbon production process. The company continously increases the comprehensive utilization rate of three wastes.Waste water is created into liquid fertilizer while industrial residue is transferred to biofuels.
The undesirable taste profile for stevia still blocks the applications.According to herbridge.com,the largest applications will be in beverage rather than table sugar or dessert in recent years.
