Jin,marketing manager,Xi'an Ciyuan Biotech Ltd ,said,"Piperine is widely applied in cosmetics,pharmaceticals even in pesticide,but the dosage is extremly small."
Black pepper is harvested in August and September.If the new material is in severe shortage,Jin said,"Piperine price must rise."
Gao Ligang,general manager,Shaanxi Tianben Bioengineering Co., Ltd,explained,"Piperine was sold in last two months,leaving not much stock.The high price for black pepper results in small profit space.They are trying best to optimize process to lower cost."
There are three or four piperine manufacturers in China,most importing raw materials from Viet Nam.Black pepper sees a poor harvest on account of abnormal climate in Viet Nam and SW drought in China.
