Curcumin is generally extracted from Curcuma aromatica Salisb,Curcuma Kwangsiensis S.LEE C.F.Liang,Curcuma Longa and Curcuma zedaria.However,manufacturers in China mainly take curcuma longa from Myanmar as raw materials.The 2009 civil strife in Myanmar changed the import channel and the curcuma longa price increased accordingly.Curcuma longa price had been expected to decline after the harvest in Febrary.However,curcuma longa see wordwide shortage now.On the one hand,the increase in the price of grain encourged farmers to cultivate grain and thus deduce the plant area of curcuma longa.On the other hand,the unnormal climate extremely affected the output of curcuma longa.Myanmar and India where curcuma longa mainly grows suffered drought except for the serious SW drought.Therefore,the price for curcuma longa is about or higher than 12000RMB/t which was 4000-5000RMB/t in the past years.Industy insider explained.
For years,the curcumin price in India has been much lower than that in China by means of local abundant resources.According to Henan Zhongda Biological Engineering,India currently needs to buy curcuma longa from Myanmar as well.
