Herbridge,12 March,2010-The polydatin market is extrmely quiet compared to topical resvertrol despite both extracted from Giant Knotweed Rhizome（Chinese traditional medicine herb).There are only a few researches on polydatin worldwide while the applications of resvertrol are expanded continually.
Cheng xiaofei,general manager,Xi'an Sino-Herb Bio-technology Co.Ltd,said polydatin is the precursors of resvertrol in production,but its popularity is far less than resvertrol.As deeper studies on resvertrol made,but the demand for polydatin is small,which should have more multiple effect. In addtion,as the precursors of resvertrol,many suppliers are sensitive to the polydatin supply.
The data monitored by herbridge.com show that 98% polydatin price was maintained at 10,000RMB/kg,even 50% polydatin price was up to 1800RMB/kg from 2003 to 2008.At the end of 2008,the rational market for polydatin finally came.At present,98% polydatin price is between 4400RMB/kg and 4800RMB/kg.50% polydatin price is around 800RMB/kg,but most manufacturers claimed not to offer this product.90% polydatin price is about 2500RMB/kg,but most suppliers have no stocks.The market has been stable since 2008.
The demand for polydatin is small in domestic and international market.Manufacturers specialize in resvertrol rather than polydatin.Therefore only a few manufacturers remained to supply polydatin in China.They almost have no exports.
However,Shaanxi Yangxian Qinlong Pharm,the professional supplier for polydatin is intended to explore internaional market.It is said that they have their own export right this year.According to general manager Ran Zhilong,it is difficult to select and screen raw materials.Moreover, semi-dry polydatin is liable to mildew when it rains.Which present challenges to the polydatin production.The demand for polydatin is slightly greater now and probably increases under the stimulation of the resvertrol demand.Ran claimed that they would promote polydatin as one of their main products.They stock 40-50 tons of Huzhang in 2010.
