Herbridge,8 April 2010-According to herbridge.com,major artemisinin manufacturers are still located in Chongqing and Sichuan province where raw materials grow,including HOlley Pharmaceutical(CHONGQING) CO.,LTD, PIDI stardard(Holdings)Ltd, Chongqing Heng-Star Biotechnologies Co.,Ltd,Chongqing Kerui Nanhai Pharmaceutical co.,Ltd,Sichuan Xieli Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.,Sichuan Tongrentai Ltd.Farmers are reluctant to cultivate artemisia apiacea even encouraged by the local government and enterprises.It is impossible for manufacturers to get raw materials from farmers.Therefore,these manufacturers have to make more investment in the production base to guarantee the supply and quality of artemisinin.
Manufacturers in China are likely to see the return of market rationality after two years'extremely arduous struggle.The price for arenmisinin series products rose slightly at the end of 2009.The arenmisinin price increased to 3100RMB/kg in April,2010.The present situation for the artemisinin described by manufacturers in China are as follows:
