TCM materials and prepared slices of chinese crude drugs export reversed,the monthly export volume increased continously.
Chinese patent medicine has been exported to 95 countries.
Latest data from CCCMHPIE show that TCM categories trade was favourable in 2009, the import & export value reached $2 billon with growth outpacing that of western medicine and medical treatment devices to reach 14.36%.Which is the highest since 2007.Of which,TCM categories export value grew by 11.72% to reach US$1.46 billion.TCM categories import value grew by 22.14% to reach US$540 million.Which is the highest in nearly six years.
CCCMHPIE's date shows that China economy slow on export industries due to the global downturn.But the pharmaceutical industry trade reversed quickly in the second half of 2009.The import & export value kicked the trend,rising by 9.8% during the same period.
The total import and export of TCM materials and prepared slices of chinese crude drugs reached US$ 650 millions,rising by 7.2% over the same period last year.The export grew by 6.4% to reach US$550 million.The import grew by 12.2% to reach US$ 90 million.
The herbal extracts trade was significent among TCM categories.The trade grew by 36.1% over the same period last year to reach US$820 million.The export grew by 23.7% to reach US$660 million.The import grew by 129.2% to reach US$160 million.The herbal exports account for 44.8% that of TCM categories ,ranking the first.
Chinese patent drug trade witnessed downturn in 2009.The total trade reached US$339 millions,decreasing by 3.88% over last year.The export decreased by 4.23% to reach US$160 million.The import decreased by 3.88% to reach US$176 millions.
The total trade value of health products reached US$200 million,rising by 3.1% in the same period last year.Of which,the export grew by 2.2% to US$8.91 million,the import grew by 3.9% to reach 110 million.
According to Luo yang,TCM director,CCCMHPIE.There were 2766 manufacturers exporting TCM categories in 2009 in China. The private enterprises become the mainstream whose export value accounts for 41.14%.Moreover,the export value of foreign-funded enterprises accounts for 33.78%.The state enterprises retired from the leading post with export value accounting for 24.78%.Of which,there were 1000 enterprises supplying TCM materials and prepared slices of chinese crude drugs and seven enterprises' export value exceeds US$10 million.There were 661 enterprises exporting Chinese patent drug which was dominated by state-owned enterprises with the export value accounting for 59%.
There are unfavorable factors affecting TCM categories export,but the international demand for TCM will increase in 2010.In tune with relative policy implementation,TCM trade is forcast to be boom in 2010.The TCM categories export is predicted to continue to grow in excess of 15 percent.Luo yang said.
It is understood that TCM categories export growth accelerated in recent five years:2005,the export value reached US$810 million;2006,which reached US$1.09 billion;2007,which reached US$1.18 billion;2008,which reached US$1.309 billin;2009,which reached US$1.46 billion.
