A public notice from   www.moh.gov.cn shows that the Ministry of  health  intend to permit the use of rose rugosa cv.Plena, Mesona Chinensis  Benth, Prunella vulgaris,   Microcos paniculata L ,Plumeria rubra L. cv. Acutifolia as plain food.However,when as plain food,the last three  traditional Chinese medicinal materials are only allowed to be used as the raw materials of herbal tea.These five products are all proved to be  safe by safety pharmacology experiment.At present, Ministry of Health (MOH )are soliciting comments and suggestions on this event.

        That actually served as a complement of the Food Safety Law.Many products have been used as both food and medicine among the populace  for a long time,but most of them were not on the list of medicine & food materials exclaimed by MOH of China.In fact,Chinese herb medicine  appeared earlier than the theories of traditional Chinese medicine,many formulations have been used for thousands of years,but the legislation  about TCM is still in an embryonic stage and thus relative law and regulations are not completed in China.Which is the root of "Wong Lo Kat  incident".

        At present,MOH plans to adjust relative regulations,such as the list of products both as medicine and food,the name list of materials used for  heath products.They are forcast to increase the variety of medicine & food materials and expand the range of application.Whether to be named  on the list is ultimately determinated by the result of safety experiments.
