Premier Wen Jiabao on behalf of the Chinese government definetely proposed the view that encouraging the public to take improvement actions on nutrition for the first time on the Outline of 11th Five-Year Plan for economic and social development in March 2006.Afterwards,not only the product categories supported by the States are listed but also nutrition is further considered as one of the basic princips of the development of the food industry according to the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for the development of the food industry organized by the State Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Agriculture, Science and Technology.Along with the growing awareness of healthy living and the continually expansion of the nutrition and health market,the nutrition and health industry will develop at top speed.From 7 to 10 Dec.2009,the fourth food & nutrition Industry Forum(NIF) was held in Beijing,which is organized by the Center for Public Nutrition and Development of the National Development Reform Commition of China and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation Development Center.

NIF was opened in the afternoon on 7 Dec.2009 in the Great Hall of People with more than 600 participants.Yu xiaodong, director of Centor for Public Nutrition and Development,presided over the Forum.Participants discussed the Opportunities and challenges, situation and prospects, strategies and policies respectively.They also discussed the social responsibility of the food industry and the opinion that using Nutrition and Health Science to direct the production.The World Health Organization,the Department of Agriculture in the United States,the excellent entrepreneurs all leading companies of the nutrition health industry and food industry,Food safty testing companies and the investment association of the nutrition industry and so on attended the meeting and shared their own viewpoint espacially fomulating the rules of the industry,promoting the development of the industry with polices,regulating the industry with laws and regulations.
